Wow! McMahon really knows how to make the unbelievable, believable!! I'm sure I've said this before but I think that's one of the things that makes a good story, great; making it realistic enough so it's not completely outside the realm of possibility. I actually hadn't even heard of her until I read The Winter People and it was just as good as The Night Sister I thought. She is definitely moving up on my favorite authors list! I love a good, creepy story and this had all the right elements - family secrets, mysterious murder and a spooky motel setting, just to name a few. I grew up around the same time frame as the characters in the story so it brought back a ton of memories of the late 80's. I even had my bedroom painted purple like Amy's. I didn't have a Guns n Roses poster on my wall but I did see them in concert! LOL But anyways, my point is McMahon is great at setting the atmosphere. I felt like I relived my childhood for a little while and once you hit your late 30's you start appreciating any flashbacks you can get! As soon as I read through some of my TBR&R's (to be read & reviewed) I have stacking up on my list, I am definitely going to go back and read some of her earlier books.
