Malus Domestica

Malus Domestica - S.A. Hunt Witch Hunt...

This was a hard review for me to actually put into words. I did decide to continue reading after I got over my initial shock of some of the language, since I was enjoying the actual story and was curious to find out what happened. In short, the story is about a girl, Robin who takes up witch hunting in order to find and get revenge on the witch's who made her father murder her mother. The plot is very solid and well thought out.  I also liked the originality of the characters. They were also well developed and they each brought something unique to the table. What I didn't like at all was the derogatory language and racial slurs used against African Americans, Caucasians and even Homosexuals. I thought that dialogue and language really cheapened the characters and the story.  It also made the story feel like a parody at times. I'm not sure if that was the intent or not but the plot is good enough to stand on its own just as straight up urban fantasy without the added parody and disrespectful language and I think it would be a lot better without it.

**I received this ARC from NetGalley & S.A. Hunt in exchange for an honest review.
