A Perilous Undertaking
Raybourn's books usually sweep me right in but it honestly took me a few false starts and a couple of chapters to really get into this one. Once I did though, I was glued to it through the end. I think Veronica and Stoker are really the highlight of the series. Their personalities and the dynamics between the two are just priceless. The adventures they get embroiled in solving this mystery, like traveling to an opium den and a sex club grotto were most entertaining. It reminded me a little bit of Sherlock Holmes' escapades which I always enjoy.
